From studying in modest conditions to building a modern school, US-based doctor Dr Ashok Jain invests ₹7 crore to transform education in his Rajasthan village.
A childhood shaped by limited resources in rural Rajasthan has come full circle for Dr Ashok Jain, who is now redefining education in his native village. His journey—from sitting on the floor of a government school to building a global medical career—has culminated in a powerful act of giving back that is changing hundreds of lives.
Born in Dadal village in Rajasthan’s Jalore district, Dr Jain began his education in a government school that lacked even basic infrastructure. Students often sat on the ground, and facilities were minimal.
These early hardships left a lasting impression on him. They not only shaped his perspective on education but also planted the seeds of a future mission—to improve opportunities for children growing up in similar conditions.
In January 2020, during a visit for a Republic Day event, Dr Jain returned to his old school. What he saw was disheartening—little had changed in decades.
Students were still sitting on the ground, just as he had done 40 years earlier. The moment became a turning point. Initially, he pledged ₹10 lakh to repair the school’s computer lab after discussions with the then principal.
However, what started as a small contribution quickly evolved into a much larger vision. Encouraged by his family, Dr Jain decided that incremental fixes would not be enough—what the village needed was a complete transformation.
Under the Shree Chatrashanti Charitable Trust, Dr Jain invested approximately ₹7 crore (around $7,52,164) to develop a state-of-the-art school campus.
The new institution now includes:
This initiative is not just about education—it is about long-term community upliftment.
Dr Jain’s journey to success is equally remarkable. After completing his education in India, he moved to the United States to pursue medicine.
He completed his paediatric residency at New York Medical College’s Westchester Medical Center and became board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Alongside his medical qualifications, he earned an MBA from Fayetteville State University and a physician executive certification.
Professionally, he:
Despite his international achievements, Dr Jain never lost connection with his roots. His decision to rebuild the very school where he once studied reflects a deep commitment to social responsibility.
By investing in education, he has created a sustainable impact—offering children in his village the kind of opportunities he once lacked.
Dr Jain’s story is more than just personal success—it is a blueprint for how individuals can drive meaningful change in rural India.
His initiative demonstrates that:
From a modest classroom in rural Rajasthan to a global medical career, and back again to uplift his village—Dr Ashok Jain’s journey is a powerful example of purpose-driven success.
His investment in education is not just rebuilding a school—it is shaping the future of an entire generation.
