According to the Kremlin, the discussion between the two leaders was “frank and constructive.” It was reportedly their first conversation since December and covered multiple global security issues.

During the call, Putin emphasized the need for a quick diplomatic solution to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the joint US-Israeli military operations in the region.

Kremlin: Diplomacy Is the Only Sustainable Solution

Speaking to reporters, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said that Putin outlined several diplomatic options to stabilize the situation in West Asia.

According to Ushakov, the Russian president highlighted the importance of negotiations and political dialogue instead of prolonged military confrontation.

Putin also mentioned that Russia had recently held consultations with leaders from Persian Gulf nations, as well as discussions with Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian. These conversations, he said, could help form the basis for a broader diplomatic initiative.

Speaking to reporters after the call, Trump described the conversation with Putin as “very good” and confirmed that both sides discussed the conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia.

Trump noted that several officials from both countries participated in the call. He also expressed concern about the prolonged war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Trump, the relationship between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remains highly tense, making negotiations difficult.

“Ukraine is just a never-ending fight,” Trump said, adding that there is deep hostility between the two leaders.
