IIT Madras Launches AI Courses Under ‘AI for All’ Initiative

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has introduced three new Artificial Intelligence courses through the SWAYAM Plus platform. These courses are part of the ‘AI for All’ initiative aimed at expanding digital literacy and making AI education accessible to a broader audience, including non-technical learners.

The announcement was made by Prof. V. Kamakoti during an event marking two years of SWAYAM Plus. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with IITM Pravartak, focusing on practical and industry-relevant learning.

Course Details, Fees and Eligibility

The newly launched courses are designed for different categories of learners, from students to working professionals:

• AI for Aspiring Engineers: Covers Python basics, AI concepts, and Machine Learning using engineering datasets
• AI for Administrators: Focuses on using AI tools for decision-making in professional environments
• Prompt Engineering: Teaches effective interaction with AI systems and tools

Course Fees:

• AI for Aspiring Engineers: ₹500 + GST
• AI for Administrators: ₹100 + GST
• Prompt Engineering: ₹100 + GST

These affordable fee structures are intended to increase accessibility and participation across diverse learner groups.

Registration Process and Platform Growth

Interested candidates can apply through the official SWAYAM Plus portal before the deadline of May 10, 2026. The platform has shown significant growth, offering over 500 courses across 15 sectors with more than 5.5 lakh registered learners.

Earlier phases of the AI for All campaign recorded over 92,000 registrations, reflecting strong interest in AI education. The initiative has also extended to rural outreach, including free AI training programmes for school teachers to enhance digital teaching capabilities.
